About Cascadia Journal

A blue, white, and green Cascadia flag flies in the wind.

I'm Andrew Engelson, a journalist based in Seattle. I've been freelancing for more than two decades and cover wide range of topics including Cascadia politics, climate change and the environment, urbanism and transportation, law and the criminal justice system, LGBTQ and polyamory-related issues, and the arts. I'm a big fan of the region I live in – Cascadia – because of its natural beauty, its cultural diversity, and a wealth of artistic creativity here.

Cascadia Journal features feisty, daily, opinionated email posts on news, politics, the environment, and arts & culture from across the Cascadia bioregion. Weekly essays address issues in the Cascadia bioregion – including the Pacific Northwest's pushback against US fascism. Both the daily news roundup and weekly essays are free without a paywall. But you can help me continue to publish with a paid subscription of just $5 per month.

Thanks for reading. Keep loving and keep fighting! --Andrew
